Southwest Eye Care began in Chaska in August 2005. Doctors Amy Freed, Chris Freed, and Chad Dockter formed a partnership and opened their first practice in Chaska. The doctors worked with all age groups and paid close attention to individual eye care needs. 

​The year 2007 was a time of growth and excitement for Southwest Eye Care. Doctors Freed, Freed and Dockter expanded their practice into Glencoe; transitioning Family Eye Center to Southwest Eye Care. A month later the Norwood Young America practice was added to the family.

Again in 2012-2013, Southwest Eye Care experienced more growth. In December, Southwest Eye Care expanded into Minnetonka and opened a 4th practice along I 394 and I 494.

​In August of 2014, Southwest Eye Care and Crow River merged practices and welcomed Dr. Scott Glaser as the 4th owner and an additional location in Hutchinson. At the end of December 2014, we welcomed Dr. Jeff McGuire’s patients and the residents of Belle Plaine to our newest clinic on Enterprise Drive in Belle Plaine.

​In the spring of 2015, Gerry’s Vision joined our Glencoe practice along with the owner, Heidi Klockmann, and optician, Jane Duesterhoeft. Shortly after, we welcomed our 7th and 8th clinics in Watertown (formerly Carver Eye Care) and Mound (formerly Westonka Vision). Dr. Bernie Rottach and his experienced Westonka staff became part of the Southwest Eye Care family.

​The excitement of growth continued in February of 2017 when Dr. Jabin Krassin joined the practice and added ophthalmology services for our patients. Southwest Eye Care became a full-service ophthalmology and optometry practice offering all facets of eye care including cataract surgery, glaucoma care, LASIK & refractive surgery, eye injections, Botox, cosmetic lid services, eye exams, emergency services, & optical services.
