Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-
Accurately determine a patient’s vision status using physical exam, objective testing, subjective testing, and ancillary testing.
-
Determine and diagnose a patient's ocular and systemic health status utilizing physical exam and ancillary testing when needed.
-
Prescribe medications, low vision rehabilitation, vision therapy, spectacle lenses, including evaluation and fitting of contact lenses.

Effectively transition patients to the optical in order to communicate information about the patient's prescription to the Optician or Eye Wear consultant.

Oversee referral and co-management for surgery when appropriate.

Counsel patients regarding surgical and non-surgical options that meet their visual needs related to their occupations, avocations, and lifestyle.

Write referral communications to doctors as needed.

Promote the practice and profession of optometry within the community.

Be available for after-hours on-call as assigned.

Maintain a strong understanding of the profession’s standards of care through thoughtful pursuit of continuing education.

What we need from you:

Basic bookkeeping skills.

Three years related medical experience preferred.

Three years customer service preferred.
