About the Surgery Coordinator role:

Responsible for providing patient care and outstanding customer service by educating patients on procedures, follow-up care, prior authorizations, insurance verification, and managing appointment templates. Acts as a liaison between Southwest Eye Care and hospitals and Atlas Surgery Center.

A day in your life might include…

  • Coordinate and schedule surgeries, procedures, post-ops, testing with patients and records in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

  • Execute and receive follow-up phone calls to answer questions and counsel patients.

  • Educate patients on scheduled procedure. Review packet information, assist in signing consents, and assist in scheduling pre-op physical with primary doctor.

  • Act as a liaison between Southwest Eye care and hospitals/ASC. Complete all necessary paperwork for each facility to schedule surgeries.

  • Confirm patient appointments, verify insurance benefits, and complete prior authorization paperwork for patient procedures.

  • Assist in entering medications in EMR and sending medication requests to pharmacies. Complete prior authorizations for medication requests and administer denied medications.

  • Complete billing for upgraded/cosmetic procedures in EMR and collect payments.

  • Complete billing of clinic visits and surgeries in EMR.

  • Perform filing of charts and other paperwork as needed. * Collaborate with ophthalmologist and technicians to ensure a smooth flow of clinic, process, and procedures.

  • Travel to other offices required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we need from you:

  • Detail-oriented and organized.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, multi-task and proceed with objectives without supervision.

  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.

  • Basic bookkeeping skills.

  • Three years related medical experience preferred.

  • Three years customer service preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
