About the Surgery Coordinator role:
Responsible for providing patient care and outstanding customer service by educating patients on procedures, follow-up care, prior authorizations, insurance verification, and managing appointment templates. Acts as a liaison between Southwest Eye Care and hospitals and Atlas Surgery Center.
A day in your life might include…

Coordinate and schedule surgeries, procedures, post-ops, testing with patients and records in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Execute and receive follow-up phone calls to answer questions and counsel patients.

Educate patients on scheduled procedure. Review packet information, assist in signing consents, and assist in scheduling pre-op physical with primary doctor.

Act as a liaison between Southwest Eye care and hospitals/ASC. Complete all necessary paperwork for each facility to schedule surgeries.

Confirm patient appointments, verify insurance benefits, and complete prior authorization paperwork for patient procedures.

Assist in entering medications in EMR and sending medication requests to pharmacies. Complete prior authorizations for medication requests and administer denied medications.

Complete billing for upgraded/cosmetic procedures in EMR and collect payments.

Complete billing of clinic visits and surgeries in EMR.

Perform filing of charts and other paperwork as needed. * Collaborate with ophthalmologist and technicians to ensure a smooth flow of clinic, process, and procedures.

Travel to other offices required.

Perform other duties as assigned.
What we need from you:

Detail-oriented and organized.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to establish priorities, work independently, multi-task and proceed with objectives without supervision.

Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.

Basic bookkeeping skills.

Three years related medical experience preferred.

Three years customer service preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
